Today I sneaked out of work early and hit the hill for the second DH lesson this season. This class was all about jumps and drops. Never been so scared in my life but those few times when you nail it and hang in the air for just those couple of seconds... it's pure magic.
Rode B-Line, Crank It Up, Heart Of Darkness, Dirt Merchant, and Lower A-Line. Crank is an exhausting series of never ending tabletops, step-ups and step-downs plus a couple of small wall rides.

Squamish
Trail tour of Squamish on Saturday June 26th. Checked in with Corsa Cycles in downtown Squamish. They recommended Half-Nelson, Powerhouse Plunge and Hoods In The Woods. Excellent suggestions!
Parked at Quest University just east of highway 99 off Mamquam Road (center left on map below). By coincidence, this turned out to be the perfect trailhead since the final trail poops you out right there. Rode NE on a forest service road until intersection with Half Nelson trailend. Rode up another FSR NW, staying right on the ascent until Half Nelson trailhead. Down HN to FSR. Across FSR, cross Ring Creek to Powerhouse Plunge. Down PHP halfway to FSR right (north) to Hoods In The Woods TH. Down Hoods to Poop Alley. Cross creek back to Quest University trailhead. Elapsed time: approximately 3 hours. Fun level: extreme.

DH Lessons
Today I signed up for a half-day group lesson. But two funny things happened: nobody else signed up and they had an extra novice instructor who was shadowing a real instructor for the day. So I had a private lesson with 2 instructors! One lead and one followed so they could analyze every little thing I did wrong...
Some XC habits are hard to break, like I always wanted to keep my weight back. But on tight, fast, bermed corners you need to stay forward and steer by leaning the bike down. The G forces want to compress you into the curve.
